District 7780 Rotarians,

Today has been a day full of discussion and searching for how we all can help with the Haiti relief effort.

Following my email last night, I received so many replies, phone calls and visits today about what we as a District can do to help.

We recommend sending donations to Konbit Sante (which means Partnership for Health) for the following reasons:

1.     Since the 2007-2008 Rotary year sixteen clubs in our district have been involved in a project

overseen by this organization at the Saint Justinian Hospital in Cap Haitien, Haiti.

2. Konbit Sante headquarters are located in Portland, Maine

3. While Haiti is in chaos, Konbit Sante is organized, has a plan in place and is on the ground

    following their plan.

4. Seriously injured earthquake victims from Port au Prince are being air-lifted to the St. Justinian

    Hospital.

5. The St. Justinian Hospital has sent medical teams to Port au Prince.

You may send donations directly to them at the address listed below, where it will be placed into a dedicated quake relief fund. Please also notify me of the amount your club has pledged as we are currently seeking matching funds from a corporate “Friend of Rotary”쳌.

Many clubs have already made generous donations, thank you to everyone involved.

Konbit Sante http://www.healthyhaiti.org is a non-profit located in Portland, ME (and they have presented to Rotary as well) that supports the second largest hospital in Haiti which I now understand from their rep. is the ONLY hospital of any size left in Haiti.
